Meet Sally Brucker
Sally Brucker is an artist, poet, art therapist, life-cycle celebrant, educator, and workshop facilitator.
She holds Master's Degrees in Early Childhood Special Education, Art Therapy, and Clinical Social Work. She has worked in psychiatric institutions, hospitals, refugee camps, mental health clinics, homeless shelters, alcoholic treatment centers, and in private practice. She was co-director of the Women’s Growth &Therapy Center in Washington, DC, where she specialized in women’s mental health. She was the founding director of Studio Downstairs, an art therapy studio program for adults living with mental illness.
In 2015, she was awarded the Azalea Prize for her contribution to the well-being of asylum seekers in Silver Spring/Takoma Park, MD. area, combining her passion for human rights with community arts and artists.
She has taught courses in Art Therapy in the US, South America, and Europe for over 30 years. She is also a practicing artist, exhibiting nationally and internationally. Sally trained to be an international humanitarian clown with Patch Adams, MD. She is also a certified life cycle celebrant, performing ceremonies across the life cycle.
Her work with women over many years gives her unique insight. In response to this, she created women’s retreats and online gatherings entitled “Celebrating the Wise Woman Within” that draw upon her work as a feminist therapist, artist, life-cycle celebrant, Play-Back Theatre actress, and writer.
She has two books in progress that explore the themes of aging wisely and empowering women to claim their power and wisdom. Sally can’t wait to meet you and hear your unique story as you immerse yourself in her newfound winter home of Puerto Morelos!
